Types of Conference Interpreting services
- Simultaneous Interpreting – Pairs of interpreters use electronic systems to simultaneously convey messages to delegates wearing head phones/ear pieces while a presenter or participant is speaking.
At ONCALL, we provide specialised Infrared Simultaneous Interpreting equipment. This allows delegates to listen to their chosen language (up to 32 languages at a time) in comfort, using wireless headphones or earpieces. - Whispered Simultaneous Interpreting - The interpreter sits beside the delegate(s) and whispers the interpretation. Portable equipment can also be used to cater for groups of up to 30 delegates.
- Consecutive Interpreting – Typically used in meetings or at formal events when one or two short addresses are translated into one or more languages for a smaller number of participants. An interpreter listens to a set number of phrases from the speaker; when the speaker pauses the interpreter gives their rendition in the target foreign language.
- Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI) – We also offer audio-visual and communication technology, including infrared and digital simultaneous interpreting equipment for onsite events, a remote accompanying interpreting meeting platform for online meetings, and conference translation services for meeting minutes, reports, and presentations, including real-time transcription.
